Current News

22/8/2011 – Please be sure to check the comments below my reviews because I update the reviews there. Many reviews are from years ago but I have updated them in the comments section when I have returned.

11/4/2010 – A lot of people seem to miss the search feature of the site. If you’re looking for a specific restaurant or topic, use the search bar at the top right hand of the page.

15/12/09 – Don’t forget that Relax with Dax is optimised for mobiles too. When you visit the site from your mobile it automatically shows you just the list of posts (no graphics and layout) and there is a search facility at the bottom so you can easily find the review you are looking for. Just browse to the normal URL www.relax-with-dax.co.za

    Hi Dax,

I recently ‘discovered’ your site, and like it a lot! I was desperatly looking for a review on “The Foodbarn’ (Noordhoek – Franck Dangereux’s place), but can’t find it. We booked again for tomorrow, so there’s some excitement building up already! It’s my personal Cape Town’s best.

  2. Hi Jan

I ate at the Foodbard on Friday evening and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I will post the review as soon as I complete it.

My calamari starter was so good that I didn’t flinch at paying R80 for it. For main I had the linefish which was also excellent.

They offer a bistro menu, which is very good value. I didn’t take advantage of it because both the main and starter that caught my eye were on the a la carte menu and I didn’t regret it.

  4. I am busy inviting any food and wine bloggers I can find on the internet to the first ever South African food bloggers conference. You can find all the info here http://sa-food-blogging-conference.blogspot.com/

The cost is R430 all inclusive for the day. Sunday 21 March 9.30am at Giggling Gourmets Cooks Playground opposite the new Cape Quarter parking garage entrance, De Waterkant, Cape Town. There will be a buffet lunch & refreshments, great speakers and a big goodie bag stuffed with amazing foodie things. And fab give aways and prizes. Very exciting stuff.
