Wafu burns down!

A day or two ago, Wafu burned down. I didn’t believe it until I saw the pictures. A horrible sight. It’s so sad to see one of our favourite places destroyed. Why couldn’t it have been the CTFM or something? I believe Wakame is still operational but it looks like it will be a while before we have drinks at Wafu again.

This reminds me of when Madame Zingara burnt down. Also one of our favourite places. Why am I being punished like this?

I’ve put the pictures up in the gallery for those who are interested.

What I wanna know is… what happened to the fish in the tank?

That is a good question and I don’t know the answer. I hope they survived.

I might be able to find out, I will let you know.

So it seems the poor little fishies pegged. Horrible.

Just to clear up all the questions about Wakame & Wafu. Wafu burnt down after an Electrical fault in the wooden weave wall. It was believed to be a light fitting that went wrong.

All the tanks except one died & there were 20 survivors!

We will be reopen in September the latest.

Thanks for that info Roy, a lot of people were curious about how the fire started.

We are happy to hear about the 20 little fishies who survived and we look forward to the reopening because Wakame/Wafu is one of our favourites.

Today i went to Wafu to enjoy the nice hot weather and have a light lunch with a friend. Well, best lunch i have had in a while and i had the Stirfry “Shitake & Wood Ear Mushrooms with water chestnut and asparagus”. Fresh, green, crispy, surprisingly generous portion and really tasty for R40. I will definitely go back more often for that dish!! Totally worth it.
