The listing of the best restaurants in the world for 2008 has been released. Last year, Le Quartier Francaise in Franschoek was placed 47th (38th the year before that). This year it just scrapes in at position 50. You can read my review here.
Last year Bosman’s in Paarl made it onto the list at position 81, but this year the only other SA restaurant in the top 100 is Jardine at 93. As usual, the only South African restaurants in the world top 100 are both in the Western Cape.

On a similar note, Conde Naste Traveller magazine has released its Hot List 2008 and one South African restaurant made it onto the list. Also a Western Cape eatery, Myoga was praised for its diverse menu, impressive wine list and informed and helpful service.
