Entertainer

My Top 5 Entertainer Partners

The 2015 Entertainer has been launched and there are a ton of awesome new partners. The app now includes over 500 partners with 2 for 1 vouchers that total an unbelievable R800,000! There are multiple vouchers per partner and the vouchers are valid for the whole year, any time! Can you believe that The Entertainer Cape Town only costs R345?! (If you’re in Durban or Johannesburg, there is an Entertainer pack available for your city now as well.)

I saved more than the price of the app by using The Entertainer just twice! From now I’m just scoring and scoring and scoring and scoring…

The great thing about the app (as opposed to the book version of The Entertainer) is that each month new partners are added. So my top 5 might change as awesome new partners come on board during the year.

Top 5 Restaurant Partners:

De Grendel (www.degrendel.co.za)

The Durbanville wine region doesn’t get the exposure it deserves. It’s so close to Cape Town and boasts fantastic wine farms, of which De Grendel is just one. The restaurant at De Grendel has amazing views and the food is delicious. Of course the wines are fabulous as well!

Mondiall (www.mondiall.co.za)

Mondiall took over the ex Green Dolphin space in the Waterfront and it has been a top addition to the Waterfront culinary offering. Dining a Mondiall is a treat in every way and with The Entertainer 2 for 1, it’s a steal.

Glen Carlou (www.glencarlou.co.za)

One of the most underrated winelands dining experiences. I’ve eaten at Glen Carlou a few times and have always been impressed by the food. Apart from the impressive food, Glen Carlou offers fantastic wines and one of the best views in the winelands.

The Grand (www.grandafrica.com)

Eating and drinking on a private beach of white sand, with the sea glistening a few metres away. This sounds like some exotic Mediterranean location, but it’s right here in Granger Bay! Dining at The Grand is an experience not to be missed. It’s not cheap but with The Entertainer, it can be!

Engruna (www.engruna.co.za)

This is one of my favourite Sea Point locals. Brought to you by the same owners as La Boheme, this pizza and gourmet burger spot is a great casual spot for those nights when you don’t feel like cooking (which is quite often for me). It doesn’t hurt that they have a great selection of craft beers available too.

The savings at these restaurants will vary, depending on what you choose to eat. Engruna is probably the only option where a main costs less than R100, so it won’t take more than 2 or 3 vouchers before you’ve recovered the price of The Entertainer for 2015.

Top 5 Activity Partners

Apart from restaurants, The Entertainer has vouchers for travel, activities, spas, etc. These are my top 5 non-restaurant partners in The Entertainer for 2015:

entertainer ziplining

The Cape Wheel (www.capewheel.co.za)

The Cape Wheel is a great addition to the Waterfront. It’s a good looking feature with all its lights, especially at night. But it’s also worth taking a ride in it. The views are amazing. I’ve been during the day and during the night, each gives you a different view, both worth seeing. It doesn’t take long, maybe 15 minutes or so, which makes it something fun to do on the spur of the moment, perhaps after dinner in the Waterfront.

Ziplining with SA Forest Adventures (www.saforestadventures.co.za)

We call them ‘foofy slides’ here in SA, but these are much bigger than any foofy slide I’ve been on! At the Hermanus site, SA Forest offers ziplining along with several other adventure options such as sandboarding, quadbiking, etc. Ziplinging is amazing, with lines through the forest as long as 200m! It’s an adrenalin rush (but still very safe)!

Saving: R400

Sunset cruise with Cruise IQ (www.cruiseiq.co.za)

There are a bunch of cruise options in The Entertainer. I selected Cruise IQ because I’ve done the cruise before and it was a great experience. Cape Town has amazing natural beauty, but we seldom get to enjoy it from the vantage point of a boat out at sea. Definitely worth doing at least once. Also makes for a very romantic outing 🙂

Saving: R200

Go-Karting (www.karting.co.za)

It was difficult to choose between this or golf. The golf vouchers offers huge savings because golf is so expensive these days but I don’t play golf so I picked the one I actually have done. Go-karting is great fun and these karts go fast! I was going to select this as an activity for kids, but I think adults enjoy it even more than kids do!

Saving: R130

And one for the kids…

Ratanga Junction (www.ratanga.co.za)

We have to include something for the kids and Ratanga is always popular. Now with The Entertainer it’s not so expensive to get the family in. There is a voucher for full adventurer, mini adventurer as well as non-rider pass. So parents with 2 kids can get in for half price.

Saving: R172

If you get around to doing all 5 of these awesome activities, your minimum total saving will be R1,002. But there are multiple vouchers per activity so take some friends and save even more money!
