Elite Traveler magazine have started an annual list of the top 100 restaurants in the World. With its first list in 2013, this newcomer is competition to the well known World’s 50 Best Restaurants (which is also 100 despite the name), which has been running since 2003.
In the most recent list of World’s 50 Best Restaurants (2013), only Le Quartier Francaise and The Test Kitchen made the cut at positions 53 and 61 respectively. These same 2 restaurants made the Elite Traveler top 100 at positions 45 (Test Kitchen) and 82 (Quartier Francaise), but Rust En Vrede also made the list at position 85.
Last year the Elite Traveler top 100 also featured 3 South African restaurants, Rust en Vrede (78), Quartier Francaise (87) and La Colombe (90).
So we’re moving up on average. Let’s hope that trend continues.
The top 10 on the Elite Travelers Top 100 list are:
Alinea – Grant Achatz (Chicago)
Daniel – Daniel Boulud (New York)
