Eat Out Magazine recently announced the top 10 restaurants in the country. The top 10 were selected from 20 nominated restaurants and 17 of the nominees are in Cape Town and the winelands. Which means we have a list of the 17 best restaurants in Cape Town and surrounds for 2017. Each of these will be well worth visiting.
Most people know about the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards. They happen annually and South Africa has had representation on the list through top performers like The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francaise and The Test Kitchen. San Pellegrino is one of the sponsors of the awards but they have decided to escalate their investment in the industry by creating a new competition which is complementary to the the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards. The San Pellegrino Young Chef Awards started in 2015 and is a worldwide competition.
The top 10 restaurants in South Africa were announced at the Eat Out Mercedez-Benz Restaurant Awards on Sunday. As usual, most of the restaurants (8) are located in the Western Cape.
I recently published the list of 20 restaurants which have been nominated for the 2015 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards. The Eat Out judges will evaluate them and select the best 10. I was curious about what the actual criteria for selecting the winners. I emailed Eat Out to ask them if they could share the criteria with me and they were happy to so I thought I should share it with you!
