This documentary stars Al Gore. It’s pretty funny when he introduces himself, he says: “Hi, I’m Al Gore. I used to be the next president of the United States.”. This movie is basically a presentation about the problem of global warming. The movie tag line is: A Global Warning, which I thought was pretty clever too.
This documentary is a must see. I think we all have a basic understanding of the problem of global warming, but we don’t realise 1) how serious it is and 2) what we can do about it. These are 2 questions that this documentary will answer for you. We can make a difference if we each try and reduce our carbon footprint, and there are many ways in which we can do this. It’s very important that people are educated about these issues, so I urge you to grab a friend and go see this movie.
It’s unfortunate that the government is not taking the initiative here in South Africa, and creating opportunities for us to reduce our carbon footprint. I was most annoyed to read that the tax on plastic shopping bags which was supposed to have been used to set up a recycling process, has in fact been used to pay for KFC at municipal parties (not sure about that, but wouldn’t be surprised). Despite a lack of government leadership and example, we can still do our bit.
