This is the 4th year for the Top 100 SA Wines competition and with nearly 500 entries, it’s growing nicely. The 2014 winners included 52 reds, 34 whites, with the balance going to cap classiques, natural sweets, ports and fortified wines.
With some history behind the competition, it is now possible to award consistent performers. The wine consistency award went to Le Riche cabernet sauvignon for stellar performance in each of the 4 Top 100 challenges. Vineyard consistency awards went to Cederberg, Saronsberg, Paul Cluver, Simonsig and Jordan for having the highest number of winning wines over the 4 years of the competition.
For the full list of winners, visit the Top 100 SA Wines website.
Big new this year is that Top 100 SA Wines has released an app, which is available for iOS and Android. Just search for ‘Top 100 SA Wines’ in the respective app store.
The app not only lists the winning wines from the Top 100 challenge, but gives information about each wine and the estate it comes from. Estates can be listed or located on the map and the app will use Google Navigation to direct you to the estate if you wish.
The list of restaurants which qualified for the Top 100 Wine Lists is included as well.
