Last year I posted about a new 2 for 1 offer book called The Entertainer. The concept is simple, it’s a book full of 2 for 1 offers which are valid anytime. Summer, winter, any day of the week, day or night. There were two things I loved about it:
1) The simplicity: one offer, not a whole bunch of random discounts or free starters / bottles of wine if you order this or that. Just 2 for 1, that’s it.
2) The value: I use mainly restaurant offers, which give me a free main course. That’s great value. The lifestyle offers give you 50% off two people. Whichever offers you use, the discount is not insignificant.
I used the book last year, and saved myself well in excess of the cover price, which was R495. I probably saved at least 3 times that and I didn’t even use that many vouchers. If you used the whole book you would save yourself tens of thousands of Rand.
But there were 2 issues I had with the book.
1) It’s quite a big book, and while that means lots of offers, it also means I had to carry the book around. I found that keeping it in the boot of my car was the most convenient. But still not ideal.
2) Finding relevant offers required some serious page flipping. If I was looking for an offer at a restaurant near wherever I happened to be I would have to look through the index and try spot addresses which were nearby. Definitely a little bit of a mission.
So when I heard that The Entertainer would be available as an app in 2014, I got really excited. This would solve those 2 problems. No book to carry around, and it is location aware so it shows you offers closest to you.
The Entertainer app is already available for download. The app is free, and you will just need to purchase the offer pack for the city you want. Which means you could buy the Cape Town offer pack, but you may also decide to buy the pack for other cities if you are travelling, especially as hotels are included.
There are free introductory offers until the end of the year which is when the full offer pack will be launched. Currently there are 16 free offers available, with some more being released in December. Some of the current offers are:
