I quite liked my breakfast at Liquorice & Lime. I had the De-Lite breakfast (R32) which consists of two eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and toast. I had fried eggs and they were done according to specification and the bacon was just turning crispy which is how I like it. I washed it down with a flat white (R14) which was pretty good. I also took an almond croissant (R10) away with me but wasn’t too impressed with it to be honest. They also have a selection of light meals for lunch which looked quite appealing. They are open till 5pm during the week and 4pm on weekends.
The place itself is quite cheerful. The decor is revolves around black and lime green in keeping with the name, which gives it a funky appearance. One can sit at low tables or bar height tables or even at the counter that runs next to the window (with a great view of the mountain). The place is very small, you could hail a waiter from the far corner without difficulty. This means the service can’t really ever be bad. The staff were friendly and assisted me well.
There is a small deli element to the place, the various walls support shelves filled with various items, savoury and sweet. There is also a selection of liquorice as you might expect.
There’s not too much else to say about the place. It’s been around for a while now so it must have a following. I know some of my friends frequent it (but don’t invite me). I would go again.

I find it too noisy. Not people noise, but car noise. The intersection -right outside the door – is one of the busiest on Kloof Street, which I think detracts from the experience. I tend to rate breakfast spots on their vibe – dining alongside a busy road doesn’t do it for me…
We actually have breakfast at L&L each Sunday……great prices, fresh food and fantastic service!
i absolutely love this place!
I went there about 2 week ago and i was very impressed the food was presented beautifully and tasted even better…i loved the vibe and the service was excellent there was not a thing i could complain about, the place is spotless and well managed….i would most defnitely would go back.
