Have you seen what’s happening at the Good Food & Wine Show this year? It’s insane. You need to set aside a whole day to spend there. It starts on Thursday and ends on Sunday and it’s happening at the ICC again.
To give you some idea of what’s in store for you…
Have you heard of The Fat Duck? Heard of Heston Blumenthal? Thought you might have. Well, he will be doing some cooking demonstrations. As will James Martin of BBC’s Saturday Kitchen show and Jonathan Daddia of Masterchef plus a whole bunch more top local and international chefs.
There will be a bunch of great restaurants selling tasty food. To mention a few: Bistro 1682, Five Flies, Beluga, Blues…
The Slowmarket will be there again so you can stock up on some nice goodies and fresh produce/bread/etc.
There’s a wine theatre where you can learn all about wines and get to taste them too. There’s a Lindt chocolate theatre and a ‘farm to fork’ wellbeing theatre. So much to learn!
And apart from all that there will obviously be all the stands presenting a variety of products as they do each year.
That’s not even everything, but it should be enough to convince you that you need to be there.
Right, so let’s get down to it. I have 6 double tickets to the Good Food & Wine Show to give away. Did I mention that there will be some awesome liquid options too? I know that the fine spirits produced by Jorgensen’s Distillery will be there.
There is also a champagne lounge and there will be plenty of craft beer available. It think Darling Slow Brew has it’s own stand and there are others…

I know there are a lot of disappointed people because there were a lot of entries! Thanks to everyone who entered, I hope you go and enjoy the show anyway, it will be well worth the entrance fee.
This year’s Good Food & Wine show seems to be bigger and better than ever before. There is just so much to do and see and taste.
My advice is the same as last year, if you go, make sure you have at least half a day to spend there because there is so much to do you will need a good few hours.
I judged the stands again this year and there were some pretty cool stands and products. Some stands really went to a lot of effort and many demonstrated that you don’t need stacks of cash to make a good stand.
The show is a great opportunity to stock up on items at better prices than you would pay at the shops normally. Need olive oil? There’s plenty at the show, why not check out Willow Creek’s awesome new patented dispensing bottle. It will change your life, promise!
What about some meats? There are a few bitong stands and Rudi’s sausages are there (you should always have some of these in your freezer) and there are a bunch of charcuteries too. I was really impressed with the serano ham and lomo chorizo at International Deli Distributors.
Been looking for some nice wine glasses or a decanter? Check out the Crystal Direct stand for some good deals.
Thirsty yet? There are plenty of wine stands but there is plenty of craft beer available too. Look out for Napier, Darling & Keg King.
If you, like me, enjoy hot sauces, check out Afrique Sauces. Their peri peri is amazing.
There’s lots of chocolate, keep an eye out for the Honest Chocolate stand.
The best new product is definitely the tomato relishes sold by Pronto Mama. They are all made using fresh rosa tomatoes and are bursting with flavour. I reckon you could eat them on anything.
It sounds boring but Saldahna Foods have managed to make tinned tuna sexy again. With funky bright coloured cans and a variety of sauces, it’s worth a look (and a taste).
The coolest stands in terms of looks were the Bread stand and the Conjure Cognac stand. Also the Cavendish stand is really interesting.
If you’re hungry, there are a bunch of restaurants in the Taste of the Cape section. Beluga has their sushi there. But Blues seems to be offering the best chow.
I would eat in the market though. You may know the hot South American lady who makes awesome empanadas at the Stellenbosch market, she’s there. The stand is Orinocco. There are a bunch of other stands with tasty food too.
Once you’ve viewed, tasted, poked, pulled everything, go and enjoy one of the cooking demos. There’s the wellbeing theatre and I had a jol cooking with Bertus Basson at the BBC Lifestyle theatre. There is a wine theatre and a chocolate theatre too, so you should be able to find something to watch!
I was there for 6 hours today and I’m going back on Sunday because there is more I want to see and buy. It’s a great way to spend some time, do your self a favour and go!

I just wanted to say thanks for the tickets for the GF&WS. I unfortunately had to go away for the weekend for work but my wife took full advantage of the tickets (and made a new friend on the IRT on her way to the show who used the second ticket).
She said the show was wonderful, extremely popular if the crowds were anything to go by. She presented me with a range of goods purchased at the various stalls and I am bleak I was not also able to enjoy all the samples as well. My fav purchase of hers was a cranberry, Camembert and rocket sausage – Absolutely delicious!
So thanks for the tickets even though I was not able to enjoy the show, others did!
