Documentary screening: Earthlings

On the theme of my previous post about vegetarianism, there is an excellent documentary being screened at the Labia for a week from Friday. Here is the blurb from the website:

EARTHLINGS is a feature length documentary about humanity’s absolute dependence on animals (for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and scientific research) but also illustrates our complete disrespect for these so-called “non-human providers.” The film is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix (GLADIATOR) and features music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby.

Proceeds from the movie will go to DARG, a very worthy cause. I think everybody should go and see this movie for 3 reasons:

  1. It will be very informative (took 5 years to make, sounds like they’ve done their homework)
  2. DARG will benefit from the funds (they have huge bills for medication & food for the animals they look after)
  3. We need to support the Labia to show that we appreciate that they show these documentaries (there aren’t any other alternative cinemas, so let’s give them some support).
