Corne & Twakkie – The Most Amazing Show review

Last night I went to watch the new Corne & Twakkie show at the Baxter. I didn’t get to watch their last Baxter show live, but I did see the DVD. This one is definitely an improvement, but it’s exactly what you’d expect from Corne & Twakkie. The humour of the show is based entirely on the ridiculous antics and interactions of Corne & Twakkie themselves. If you are a fan, you will enjoy the show. If you hate them, you will still hate them.

Whilst the show is frivolous and slightly irreverant, Louw Venter and Rob van Vuuren are both very talented and creative. For this reason I am a little disappointed that the content is of little consequence. They touch on several relevant social issues and generate some laughs, but it could be taken so much further. I believe they have the ability to make some worthwhile social commentary through their original and effective brand of humour. Corne & Twakkie have been around for a while now and have accumulated quite a following, I think the time has come for the show to move to the next level.

Having said that, the show was one of their better ones, so if you’re a fan you won’t be disappointed. The show runs until the 1st December 2007, tickets are R75 during the week and R95 on weekends. Book at www.computicket.co.za
