Coming up on the 3rd to 5th of October is Rocking the Daisies, one of SA’s top music festivals. What makes it special, apart from the top lineup of bands? Well, it happens on a wine farm for one and it’s also a ‘green event’, as they state on their website:
We see great importance in using Rocking the Daisies as a platform to promote a Green Attitude. Our objectives here are not only to educate people as to the harmful effects of our actions on the environment and the footprint they subsequently leave behind on the earth, but also to demonstrate an environmentally friendly alternative to the ways we put the festival together and the products we use. Across the board we have used environmentally friendly products and practices in our implementation of Rocking the Daisies.
My tent is packed and my tickets booked. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend. This Sunday I attended Sowing the Seeds, which is a ‘taster/teaser’ for Rocking the Daisies. Five bands played at The Stables in Hout Bay. Despite a last minute change in venue due to unforseen circumstances, the event was well executed and well attended.
A well planned event, great weather, fantastic live music, a big and festive crowd all make for a top way to spend a day. If this is a taste of what Rocking the Daisies has in store for us, then bring it on!
